Monroe County Historical Society

Museum Group Frontier settlement, family traditions, early industry, enslavement, civil war, sacrifice, and freedom – these are some of the stories in our Monroe County heritage. Our Society exists to preserve these stories and their visible artifacts.

Our museum, on Main Street in Union, operates seasonally. Several publications are available locally and by mail order. Our special projects help to preserve our historic legacy.

We welcome you to enjoy Monroe County's heritage with us.

Our Meetings

Our quarterly meeting on September 12, 2010 will be held in Ames Clair Hall at 2:00 p.m. Jerry Campbell will describe his research into our Civil War artifacts and his project to preserve a Confederate soldier's uniform.
